Yikes ! No winter duds, says Marshall from the coast

If touring Canada in the winter doesn't seem silly enough already, try doing it with no winter clothes.
That's the ugly prospect facing up-and-coming Canadian star Amanda Marshall.
"We just arrived from touring Australia and New Zealand and we have absolutely no cold weather gear, so we're all panicking,'' said Marshall on the phone from Vancouver, where she and her band were about to embark on a national jaunt which brings them to the Thunderdome Monday night.
"We set out two months ago when it was summer and everyone was like, `I'm not packing long johns, I'm not
packing boots.' ''
Marshall's not about to jam on the tour, though. Despite the fact she's already crisscrossed the country twice this year, she's eager to play to home crowds again.
"I really wanted to play in Canada again before we start to work on the next record, which probably won't be until April next year,'' she said.
"This will be a different show, too. Our club tour in the summer was more of a hot, sweaty club thing, a real
up-close kind of environment. Now we're playing bigger concert venues and giving people a chance to listen more.''
Circumstances are different this time around, too.
In the summer, Marshall's debut record was peaking in Canada but hadn't yet started to make much noise
elsewhere. Now the album, with its radio-friendly mix of adult pop, is nearly gold in America and several European countries.
"Things just keep rolling right along. I keep singing and people keep wanting to hear me. It's a great position to be in.''
